Reading (60 minutes)

The Reading component includes 40 questions. A series of question types is used, to test a wide variety of reading skills. These include reading for the gist, reading for the main ideas, reading for detail, skimming, following a logical argument, recognising the opinions, purpose and attitudes of writers.

IELTS Academic

The Academic version comprises of three long texts that covers the descriptive, factual, analytical and discursive. These authentic texts are taken from journals, books, newspapers and magazines. This material is chosen with a non-specialist audience in mind, but is suitable for all those candidates who want to enrol for university courses or seeking professional registration.

IELTS General Training

The General Training module wants the candidates to read extracts from magazines, books, notices, newspapers, advertisements, various guidelines and company handbooks. Such material is those that you might come across in an English-speaking environment, every day.
